Abstract

The output of a direct current power source is divided by a pair of resistances and is applied via a buffer amplifier to any of the electrodes of an electrochemical gas sensor, which is provided with a detection electrode, a counter electrode and a solid electrolyte membrane. The connection point of the other electrode of the electrochemical gas sensor is switched by a switch between a current amplifying circuit and an impedance measuring circuit, and the impedance of the gas sensor is measured. The impedance measuring circuit comprises a resistance one end of which is connected to the switch and an alternate current power source switching the potential of the other end of the resistance between the output potential of the direct current power source and the ground potential. A gas concentration is calculated by storing the humidity dependency and the temperature dependency of the electrochemical gas sensor and correcting the output of the current amplifying circuit on the basis of measured impedance and ambient temperature.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to gas detection devices using electrochemical gas sensors, and in particular to correction of the relative humidity dependence of gas sensors. Background technique [0002] The inventors have developed an electrochemical gas sensor in which a detection electrode and a counter electrode are connected to a proton conductor membrane (for example, Patent Document 1: JP2008-58213A). In these gas sensors, since the conductivity of the proton conductor changes with relative humidity, water vapor is supplied from a reservoir. However, if the reservoir is installed, the gas sensor will be enlarged. [0003] Patent Document 2, JPH05-39509B (USP4718991), discloses that humidity dependence is corrected by measuring the impedance of a proton conductor gas sensor. However, the driving circuit of the gas sensor in Patent Document 2 is complicated. Therefore, the inventors studied a practical circuit for correcting the humidity depend...
