Abstract

The pixel value of a pixel for focal point detection is appropriately corrected while the generation of correction marks is reduced. A digital camera (11) is provided with a CCD (32), an AF detection circuit (46), and a special pixel correction unit (48), etc. The CCD (32) has normal pixels and phase-difference pixels that are arranged in a specified pattern in an imaging plane and outputs an imaging signal of one image plane. The AF detection circuit (46) refers to the pixel value of a phase-difference pixel from the imaging signal to evaluate the overall focus state. The special pixel correction unit (48) calculates a first correction value by multiplying a specified gain by the pixel value of the phase-difference pixel, and also compares the first correction value to the pixel values of the normal pixels surrounding the phase-difference pixel. If the first correction value is less than or equal to the maximum value and greater than or equal to the minimum value of these pixel values, the pixel value of the phase-difference pixel is replaced with the first correction value. Otherwise, the pixel value of the phase-difference pixel is replaced with a second correction value which is the average of the pixel values of the surrounding pixels.
