Problems solved by technology

In addition, the trenches are generally filled with bentonite slurry before the castings can start to "clump" on the trench walls, and any delay in pouring the concrete will result in increased clumping and therefore reduced concrete coverage

Embodiment Construction

[0039] The accompanying drawings are intended to aid in the understanding of the invention, but are not intended to imply any limitation on the scope of the invention. The use of the same reference signs in different figures is intended to refer to the same or corresponding features.

[0040] will now refer to figure 1 , 2 , 3a and 3b describe in more detail existing methods of constructing partition walls. figure 1 The process of excavating, preparing and pouring the main board is shown. Areas 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 are the five main partial pour areas in the ground 3, which show the successive steps of excavating and pouring the main panels. Area 10 shows the main board area before excavation and area 11 shows the main board area excavated with a bucket tool mounted on a crane 8, although a hydraulic milling machine 9 could also be used for this excavation step. The excavated trench remains filled with water or mud (not shown) to prevent the sides of the trench from falli...

Abstract

A method is disclosed for constructing a diaphragm wall by casting alternate primary (10, 11) and secondary (20) panels in the ground. The primary panels (10, 11) are excavated and cast first, and a cutter joint (15) or similar jointing profile is then milled into the side faces of the primary panels (10, 11) before casting the secondary panels (10). The primary panel casting regions are prepared for casting by positioning sacrificial displacement elements (31) in the regions where joint milling is to be performed. The sacrificial displacement elements (31) may be hollow elements or blocks of relatively easily millable material such as lightweight concrete. Primary panels (10, 11) cast in this way can be milled more easily, and particularly when the milling tool is at an angle to the surface being milled.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the field of civil engineering and in particular to the excavation and construction of concrete structures cast below ground level, such as partition walls. Background technique [0002] Partition walls (also known as channel walls) are constructed to form a waterproof and earth-retaining barrier around underground structures such as tunnels, basements or road passages. [0003] Partition walls are essentially impermeable vertical concrete walls cast in place underground. To construct such partition walls, trenches are first excavated to define the concrete pouring volume. In order to keep the side walls of the trench from collapsing, the trench is kept filled with mud until concrete is poured. After the trench has been dug, reinforcing steel is placed in the trench and concrete is poured, displacing the mud and filling the volume around the reinforcing steel. [0004] In existing construction methods of partition wa...
