The invention relates to a radiator protecting device which comprises a lateral plate, a water chamber, a radiator core water pipe and radiating fins. A protecting device is a retaining strip fixedly arranged on the lateral plate through a bolt. The radiator protecting device is simple in structure and convenient to use. A core protecting device retaining strip is added between a main fin at two ends of a radiator core body and a first radiating fin, and an exposed water pipe is protected from being hit by foreign matters. When a water radiator works under severe working conditions, the foreign matters such as raised sand are blown to the radiator core body by a diesel engine, an upper end portion hits on the radiating fins, a lower end portion hits on the retaining strip, and possibility that the water pipe is damaged is effectively reduced. At present, the device is used in massive mode in featured radiators of a certain large-scale project engineering machinery company in our country. After one-year implementation of the device, fault rate in a three-guarantee period is dropped from original 1.3% to 0.6%, and a designing purpose is achieved.
