The smart city Internet of Things system is characterized by comprising smart street lamps all over the whole city, a wireless communication network and a central monitoring server. The smart street lamps are used for city road lighting and acquiring weather, environment or traffic information around street lamps and communicated with the central monitoring server in a bidirectional manner through the wireless communication network. By the smart city Internet of Things system, city managers can inquire/control operation conditions of each street lamps in the network by means of GIS (geographic information system), smart control of street lamps is achieved. In addition, sensing modules mounted on the street lamps can acquire information around the street lamps, and accordingly accurate and grid information can be provided for city management and service.
