Abstract

The invention discloses a method for expanding the number of virtual routers based on a virtual router redundancy protocol (VRRP). The method comprises the following steps: a first step of creating a VRRP notification message through a first virtual router in a first network entity device, a second step of generating a virtual route identifier (VRID) according to a first virtual address in the VRRP notification message through the first virtual router and adding the VRID to the VRRP notification message, a third step of sending the VRRP notification message to a switchboard through the first network entity device and sending the VRRP notification message to a second network entity device through the switchboard, wherein the second network entity device is connected with the switchboard, a fourth step of finding a virtual router corresponding to the first virtual router through the second network entity device according to the VRID and virtual IP (VIP) addresses in the VRRP notification message.
