Problems solved by technology

[0003] The disadvantage of this kind of ventilation is that the operation is relatively cumbersome and the odorous substances cannot be completely removed
In addition, the laundry often smells unpleasantly strongly of cleaning agents after such treatment, and additional costs for cleaning cloths are incurred in each ventilation process

Embodiment Construction

[0059] The washer-dryer shown in the only illustration of the drawing has a lye container 1 and a drum 2 rotatable about a substantially horizontal axis in the lye container, in which the laundry 3 is located. The lye container 1 is connected to the lye pump 12 through the lye discharge pipe 19, and the lye pump can discharge the aqueous liquid 11 from the lye container 1 through the drain pipe 13 to the outside of the washer-dryer. The drum 2 is driven by means of a drive motor 4 .

[0060] The drum 2 is loaded with laundry 3 to be treated through the filling opening 22 . In order to be able to wash laundry in the washer-dryer, the washer-dryer is connected via a water supply system 20 to an external water supply (not shown here). A water supply system 20 is connected to a flushing box 21 from which detergent components or cleaning aid components can be fed into the lye container 1 by means of water from the water supply system 20 . This takes place here via a part of the p...

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for removing odorous substances from laundry items (3) in a clothes dryer, wherein the clothes dryer comprises a suds container (1), a drum (2) that is rotatably mounted in the suds container for receiving laundry items (3), a control device (18), and a process air channel (5) in which a heater (7) for heating air, a blower (6), and a heat exchanger (8) are situated, comprising the steps of: (a) generating a warm air flow in that air is heated by means of the heater (7) in the process air channel (5) and is transported by means of the blower (6); (b) introducing an aqueous liquid (11) via the heat exchanger (8) into the suds container (1) at a quantity that is not sufficient for the drum (2) to be immersed in the aqueous liquid (11); (c) heating the aqueous liquid (11) by bringing same into contact with the warm air flow; (d) generating a water vapor flow (17) by at least partially evaporating the aqueous liquid (11); and (e) bringing the water vapor flow (17) into contact with the laundry items (3). The invention further relates to a clothes dryer suitable for carrying out said method.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method for removing odorous substances from laundry in a washer-dryer and a washer-dryer suitable for the method. Background technique [0002] Laundry items such as clothes absorb odorous substances after a certain time due to body odor or ambient odor and must be washed or cleaned. In order to avoid frequent washing or cleaning of these garments, which actually have no visible stains, and thus protect them, it is known to ventilate the garments. In this way, it is possible to remove the attached odorous substances from the laundry without a washing process. This ventilation is especially beneficial for non-washable laundry. Manufacturers of chemical detergents offer systems in which, in special plastic bags, with the aid of wet cloths impregnated with cleaning agents, especially surfactants, when dried in a washer-dryer Hot and humid atmosphere. As a result, odorous substances are removed from the laundry and it...
