Abstract

The present application discloses a method of treating a formation in a wellbore, the method providing a first treatment fluid; pumping the first treatment fluid to induce a network of low conductivity fractures in the formation; providing a second treatment fluid comprising A second carrier liquid comprising a first amount of microparticles having a first average particle size between about 100 and 2000 μm and a second amount having a particle size between about three times and twenty times smaller than said first average particle size a particulate blend of particulates of a second average particle size such that the particulate blend has an encapsulated volume fraction greater than 0.74; and pumping the second treatment fluid to induce at least one highly conductive fracture in the formation. The high conductivity fractures have a higher conductivity than the average conductivity of the low conductivity fractures and connect the network of low conductivity fractures.
