Embodiment Construction

[0022] figure 1 A longitudinal section through a schematically indicated mixing and kneading machine 1 is shown, which is especially suitable for the continuous production of light metals such as aluminum or magnesium for subsequent die-casting processes. If aluminum or magnesium is mentioned below accordingly, this is not only to be understood as pure aluminum or magnesium, but in particular also alloys thereof.

[0023] The mixing and kneading machine 1 has a working mechanism in the form of a worm shaft 3 surrounded by a housing 2 , which is provided with a plurality of helically extending screw wings. The flight of the worm shaft 3 , not shown in detail, is interrupted in the circumferential direction in order to provide axial perforations for kneading bolts or kneading teeth arranged on the housing 2 , as will be explained in more detail below. The worm shaft 3 performs an axial, that is to say translational, movement in addition to the actual rotation. Preferably, the ...

Abstract

The invention provides a mixing and kneading machine (1) which is suitable, in particular, for continuously conditioning metals such as aluminium or magnesium for a subsequent die-casting operation. To this end, the mixing and kneading machine (1) has a worm shaft (3) which rotates and at the same time moves in translation in the axial direction in a housing (2). The temperature of both the housing (2) and the worm shaft (3) is controlled by means of a flowing gas in such a manner that the conditioned metal assumes a thixotropic state when it leaves the mixing and kneading machine (1).

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a mixing and kneading machine for continuous production processes according to claims 1 to 17. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for producing metals by means of a mixing and kneading machine designed according to claims 18 to 22 . Finally, the invention also relates to the use of a mixing and kneading machine according to claim 23 . Background technique [0002] Mixing and kneading machines of the type in question have hitherto been mainly used for the preparation of bulk (powders, granules, flakes, etc.), plastic and / or pasty substances and materials. [0003] With conventional mixing and kneading machines, the housing is usually tempered with the aid of a liquid medium. Water is therefore preferably used at temperatures below about 150° C., whereas oil is generally used at higher temperatures. However, oil is also unsuitable for use at temperatures above 400°C. Depending on the design and use of the mixing a...
