The stay cable vibration damper comprises an inner barrel, an outer barrel, elastic elements and damping elements, wherein the elastic elements are installed between the inner barrel and the outer barrel in the radial direction, the damping elements are installed between the inner barrel and the outer barrel in the radial direction, the number of the elastic elements and the number of the damping elements are multiple, and the multiple sets of the elastic elements and the multiple sets of the damping elements are distributed along the inner barrel in the axial direction. The stay cable vibration damper is a hanging type damping device and does not need supports besides a stay cable, and accordingly the optimal installation position and the optimal installation quantity of the stay cable vibration damper can be selected according to the damping effect, and a better damping effect can be achieved. Corresponding connecting elements exist between the inner barrel and the outer barrel in all directions of the radial direction, transverse vibration of the stay cable in any direction can make the vibration damper to respond and relatively move to consume energy, and therefore the stay cable vibration damper can perform the functions of damping vibration and consuming energy on transverse vibration of the stay cable in any direction.
