The disclosed imaging device is provided with: a plurality of comparison units that compare an analog signal supplied from a pixel including a photoelectric conversion element through a vertical signal line and a reference signal having ramp waves of different inclinations, and output a comparison result; a plurality of counters that perform counting on mutually different comparison units until the comparison result is inverted, and output a count value as digital data; and a sample hold unit that electrically disconnects the vertical signal line when the comparison unit performs a comparison and the comparison unit and supply the held analog signal to the comparison unit.
