The magneto-rheological damper comprises a vibration piston connected with the top plate, a supporting portion, a working cylinder arranged in the supporting portion, a lead wire and a sealing cover. The supporting portion comprises a supporting base and a supporting column. The vibration piston is installed on the supporting column in a sleeved mode and is partially embedded into the working cylinder, and the sealing cover for sealing an opening of the working cylinder is arranged at the upper end of the supporting portion. A positive-pole magnetic coil is arranged at the bottom end of the vibration piston, and a negative-pole magnetic coil is arranged at the bottom end of the working cylinder. The damper is combined with machine tool vibration damping foot pads to form a whole by changing internal and external structures of the damper, a working plane can be adjusted to be kept horizontal, and intelligent vibration damping can be also achieved.
