Background technique [0002] Turbocharged engines may include high-pressure exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and low-pressure EGR. High pressure EGR may be provided to the engine by passing exhaust gas from the exhaust system at a location upstream of the turbocharger turbine to the engine intake system at a location downstream of the turbocharger compressor. Low pressure EGR may be provided to the engine by directing exhaust gas from the engine exhaust system at a location downstream of the turbocharger compressor to the engine intake system at a location upstream of the turbocharger turbine. Low pressure EGR may have the benefit of being cooler than high pressure EGR, thus reducing engine charge temperature.
