The present invention relates to the technical field of highway equipment management and maintenance, and especially discloses a method for managing highway equipment, comprising the steps of: providing electronic tag cards for equipment used for being managed; numbering the electronic tag cards, searching positions of the equipment with the numbered electronic tag cards, and determining whether the equipment is in a use state, a standby state or a to-be-maintained state; if the equipment is in the to-be-maintained state, writing equipment damage information in a hand-held terminal and transmitting the equipment damage information to a maintainer by a supervisor; performing equipment maintenance to the site by the maintainer after receiving the equipment damage information, scanning the electronic tag card to obtain historical maintenance record; performing maintenance by the maintainer, then notifying the supervisor to perform on-site confirmation after completion of the maintenance, if the supervisor checks and judges that the maintenance is unqualified, re-maintaining the equipment until the maintenance is qualified.
