Embodiment Construction

[0030] figure 1 A schematic diagram illustrating a conventional mobile communication system is provided. The system comprises a plurality of base stations 101 connected to a core network 102, wherein the base stations and the core network are arranged to provide a radio interface. Each of the plurality of base stations provides a service area 103 and serves a plurality of communication devices 104 located within the service area 103 . Each communication device 104 within the service area transmits data to and receives data from the base station 101 on the radio uplink and radio downlink of the wireless interface, respectively. Accordingly, each base station transmits data to and receives data from a communication device, which is within its service area, on the radio downlink and radio uplink, respectively. Data sent to the base station 101 can be routed to the core network 102 so that services such as voice calls, Internet access, authentication, mobility management and cha...

Abstract

A mobile device is configured to transmit a request for services message to network infrastructure equipment, and to receive a response message to the request for services message from the network. The request for services message includes a delay period, and the mobile device is configured after transmission of the request for services message to enter a reduced power state in which an amount of power consumed by the transceiver is reduced for the delay period. The network will delay sending the response message until the timer has expired. The mobile device, after the delay period has expired, exits the reduced power state in order to receive the response message from the network. The mobile device may preferably be a Machine Type Communication (MTC) device or similar.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to a communication device for sending and receiving data in a communication network and a method of communicating data. Background technique [0002] Mobile communication systems continue to evolve to provide increased capacity and expand the number and variety of devices that can be served. Recently, third and fourth generation mobile telecommunication systems such as UMTS and Long Term Evolution (LTE) architectures defined by 3GPP have been developed to provide personal computing and communication devices with simpler voice and Messaging services are more complex communication services. For example, with the improved radio interface and enhanced data rates offered by LTE systems, users can enjoy high data rate applications such as mobile video streaming and mobile video conferencing, which were previously only available via fixed line data connections. As a result, the need to deploy third and fourth generation networ...
