The method comprises the steps of receiving an input character string, wherein the character string comprises a first sub character string and a second sub character string; displaying the character string in a character region and displaying candidate information corresponding to the character string in a candidate region; determining candidate information corresponding to the first sub character string; detecting whether the second sub character string has an error or not; and if yes, removing the second sub character string from a character string region. According to the embodiments of the invention, the operations of repeatedly inputting the character string and selecting the candidate information by a user and the like are avoided; on one hand, the key pressing frequency of the user can be effectively reduced, the input efficiency can be improved, quick and convent input can be realized, and the user experience can be enhanced; and on the other hand, the responses of a device to the operations of inputting a key input string, performing selection and the like by the user can be reduced and the consumption of device system resources is reduced.
