Embodiment Construction
[0020] Exemplary embodiments of the invention relate to a transmitter for a magnetic resonance (MR) system, such as a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) system. The transmitter includes a coil for applying an NMR pulse sequence to the material. The coil includes a first coil portion and a second coil portion. The first coil portion and the second coil portion pass current with opposite polarities. In various embodiments, the transmitter further comprises transmitter circuitry for generating a NMR pulse sequence and providing the NMR pulse sequence to said coil. The transmitter circuit includes a first switch that selectively energizes the first coil portion and a second switch that selectively energizes the second coil portion. Operation of the first switch and the second switch generates the NMR pulse sequence. In this way, various embodiments of coils and transmitter circuits enable the transmission of NMR pulse trains over a wide frequency range, while also providing simpl...
