The Blakeslea trispora mutant strains are characterized in that the strains are preserved in China Center for Type Culture Collection (CCTCC), Wuhan University, Wuhan, Hubei Province, China on August 8th, 2014 with accession numbers of Blakeslea trispora BT7251 (+) CCTCC M 2014378 and Blakeslea trispora BT7603 (-) CCTCC M 2014379. After the Blakeslea trispora mutant strains provided by the invention are subjected to conventional fermentation culture, high-yield beta-carotene can be obtained. Moreover, the whole fermentation process is simple, convenient to control and beneficial for industrial production.
