The method comprises the steps of: receiving an emergency braking command, acquiring the current speed of the elevator and comparing the current speed with a predetermined speed value; if the current speed is greater than or equal to the predetermined speed value, controlling switch elements in an inverter to switch on / off, respectively, wherein any two phases in three phase outputs of the inverter are short-circuited; and if the current speed is smaller than the predetermined speed value, controlling switch elements in an inverter to switch on / off, respectively, wherein three phase outputs of the inverter are short-circuited; the three phase outputs of the inverter correspond to three phase inputs of a motor, respectively.
