Embodiments of the invention provide a method for accessing a storage medium by an application and a mobile terminal. The method comprises the steps of receiving a first access request of accessing the storage medium by the application; obtaining a first access path contained in the first access request; judging whether a first mapping path corresponding to the first access path is recorded in a preset mapping table or not, wherein the preset mapping table is used for recording a mapping relationship between the access path and the mapping path; and if the first mapping path is recorded in the preset mapping table, controlling the application to access the storage medium according to the first mapping path. According to the method and the mobile terminal provided by the embodiments of the invention, files created in the storage medium by the application are subjected to centralized management by adopting a mapping method, so that the purpose of keeping concise file structure in the storage medium is achieved.
