Abstract

An autonomous flat cleaning robot is disclosed. The robot includes a body having a base defining an exterior defining a surface area around its perimeter and an interior defining a cavity formed within the exterior. The main body supports the drive mechanism, vacuum source, vacuum sensor and control unit. The vacuum source, cavity and vacuum sensor are in fluid communication. The control unit is electrically connected to the drive mechanism, the vacuum source and the vacuum sensor, and is configured to control the robot to turn when the control unit receives a signal from the vacuum sensor indicating that the level of vacuum pressure in the cavity is below a predetermined vacuum pressure. A robot including multiple vacuum sources is also disclosed. A device including a connector rod is also disclosed.
