Embodiment Construction

[0020] figure 1 Schematically showing how IMS fits into the 3GPP cellular network architecture in the case of a packet service access network. Such as figure 1 As shown in , control of communication occurs at three layers (or planes). The lowest layer is the connectivity layer 1, also known as the bearer plane, and through which signals to / from user equipments (UEs) of the access network are steered. The entities within the connectivity layer 1 that connect IMS subscribers to IMS services form a network commonly referred to as the IP Connectivity Access Network IP-CAN (which in this case is the 3GPP Packet Services Access Network). The middle layer is the control layer 4 and on top is the application layer 6 .

[0021] The IMS 3 includes a core network 3a and a service network 3b operating through an intermediate control layer 4 and a connectivity layer 1 . The IMS core network 3a comprises: nodes at connectivity layer 1 that send signals to or receive signals from the 3GP...

Abstract

One aspect includes a method of operating a user terminal adapted for wireless telecommunications using any of a number of different radio access technologies, including circuit switched CS access and packet switched PS access. PS access includes access via Long Term Evolution LTE network and WiFi access via wireless local area network WLAN. The method includes: (i) making a determination to switch from PS LTE access to WiFi access, (ii) switching to WiFi access, and (iii) ignoring or rejecting the received command to switch to CS access. Other aspects include user terminals, telecommunications network entities, and methods of operating telecommunications network entities.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method and arrangement in a telecommunications network for resolving conflicts that can arise when switching calls between different wireless networks. In particular, solutions for addressing competing single radio voice call continuity handovers and handovers to WiFi access are presented. Background technique [0002] The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is a technology defined by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) for providing IP multimedia services through a mobile communication network. IMS is a key feature of enriching the end user's person-to-person communication experience through the integration and interaction of services. IMS allows person-to-person (client-to-client) and person-to-content (client-to-server) communications over IP-based networks. The IMS utilizes the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and the Session Description Protocol (SDP) to set up and control calls or sessions between user ...
