Embodiment 1

[0106] Embodiment 1 is to the mensuration of PEA concentration in the blood of depression patients before and after administration

[0107] The following analysis was carried out in order to study the correlation between depression, which is an indicator of PEA reduction, and depression treatment drugs. Blood was collected from patients who came to the clinic of the inventor of the present application (after the patients signed informed consent). The concentration of PEA in the blood was determined by the ion chromatography fluorescence detection method according to the following steps.

[0108] 1. Pretreatment

[0109] 50 μL of plasma and 450 μL of Milli-Q water were added to a microcentrifuge tube (Eppendorf tube) and mixed using a vortex shaker (Votex). The mixture was transferred to an ultrafilter (Millipore, Ultrafree-MC-PLHCC 5kDa cut-off filter), and centrifuged until there was no solution in the filter (4°C, 9,100×g, 2 hours). The filter-filtered solution (plasma-...

Embodiment 2

[0132] Embodiment 2 is to the mensuration of the PEA concentration in blood in the depression patient when continuous administration

[0133] Among the patients who were administered the drug for treating depression in Example 1, patients who continued to administer the drug after the period of Example 1 were studied. The number of patients receiving continuous dosing of the SNRI was nine. On the other hand, the number of patients receiving continuous administration of SSRI was 5. The period of continuous administration to patients (including the period of administration in Example 1) varies from patient to patient, and is about 6 to 24 months. By the same procedure as in Example 1, the blood PEA concentrations of these patients were measured during the continuous administration and after the continuous administration. The results are shown in Table 4.

Embodiment 3

[0142] Example 3 Determination of PEA concentration in the blood of patients with depression under the mixed administration of SNRI and SSRI

[0143] A survey was conducted on patients administered SNRIs and SSRIs, which are drugs for treating depression, in combination. The number of patients receiving SNRI+SNRI administration was 3. In addition, the number of patients receiving SNRI+SSRI administration was 4. The number of patients receiving SSRI+SSRI administration was 1. The period of administration varies from patient to patient, but is about 2 to 8 months. In the same procedure as in Example 1, the blood PEA concentrations of these patients were measured before and after administration. The results are shown in Table 5.

[0144] [table 5]

[0145]

[0146] The average PEA concentration before administration of all patients administered with SNRI+SNRI was 1.20 μM (mean value). After the administration, the blood PEA concentration increased to 1.44 μM. On the o...

Abstract

[Problem] To provide a method so as to directly link phosphoethanolamine (PEA), which is a biomarker for depression, to a treatment for the same. [Solution] This method for predicting depression treatment drug alternatives includes the steps of: (1) measuring the PEA concentration in blood drawn from a patient suspected to have depression; (2) measuring whether the PEA concentration in the patient's blood is low in comparison with a reference value, and in the event that the patient's measured value is lower than that of a healthy individual, determining the patient to be suffering from a form of depression for which a decline in PEA is an indicator; and (3) predicting alternative depression treatment drugs, on the basis of whether lowered PEA concentration was observed in the patient's blood.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method for predicting the choice of drugs for the treatment of depression. More specifically, the present invention relates to a method for predicting the choice of drugs for the treatment of depression objectively and easily. Background technique [0002] The diagnosis of mental disorders such as depression is based on the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD) promulgated by the World Health Organization or the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual) published by the American Psychiatric Association. Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders: DSM). [0003] ICD is a classification issued by the World Health Organization as an international statistical benchmark for causes of death and diseases. It is used flexibly for international comparison of information related to causes of death, statistics of diseases, etc., managem...
