The invention relates to a method and a system for constructing resource scarcity language comparable corpora on the basis of pictures. The method includes steps of S110, downloading resource scarcity language web pages and utilizing the resource scarcity language web pages as resource scarcity language texts; S120, searching resource abundance language web pages with pictures identical or similar to pictures of the resource scarcity language texts and utilizing the resource abundance language web pages as resource abundance language texts; S130, extracting features of the resource scarcity language web pages and the resource abundance language web pages; S140, computing similarity values of the resource scarcity language web pages and the resource abundance language web pages with the identical or similar pictures on the basis of the features; S150, selecting the resource abundance language texts with the highest similarity values and utilizing the selected resource abundance language texts as comparable texts for the resource scarcity language texts; S160, repeatedly carrying out the steps S120-S150 until resource abundance language comparable texts are found for all the resource scarcity language web pages. The resource scarcity language web pages comprise the pictures in texts.
