Embodiment Construction

[0032] figure 1 A mobile phone 100 according to the embodiment is shown. Mobile phone 100 is shown in contact with mobile phone user 116 . The mobile phone 100 includes a microphone 108 for capturing the voice of a user 116 . The mobile phone 100 also includes a tactile feedback element 104 mechanically coupled to the housing 102 of the mobile phone 100 by a mechanical coupling 121 . The mechanical coupling 121 can be a spring. The tactile feedback element 104 is typically used in a so-called "vibration mode of operation" or "silent mode of operation" to alert the user of events by causing vibrations in the housing 102 . This event could be, for example, an incoming phone call as well as an email or text message. Vibrations induced in housing 102 by tactile feedback element 104 may provide tactile feedback to user 116 contacting housing 102 . The tactile feedback element 104 may be a linear resonance actuator (LRA), which typically has two terminals connected to a drive c...

Abstract

The present invention describes a controller for a tactile feedback element configured to generate a tactile vibration, wherein the controller includes a sensing input and is configured to sense a tactile vibration in response to an external vibration source. A signal induced on at least one terminal of the feedback element. The controller can sense vibrations induced on one or more ends of the tactile feedback element. This external source of vibrations may for example be generated by speech transmitted through bone conduction, which speech may be detected and subsequently processed.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a controller for a tactile feedback element and a method for vibration sensing of a device comprising the tactile feedback element. Background technique [0002] Voice capture in noisy environments requires special measures to suppress unwanted noise from the user's voice, thereby improving voice quality and intelligibility. These measures cover the use of (stationary) noise suppression algorithms using single or multiple microphones. [0003] In the specific case of wind noise, due to specific properties of wind noise, such as dominant low-frequency components that often mask the useful signal and very low correlation across multiple microphones, classical noise reduction algorithms do not provide satisfactory results , thus preventing the use of beamforming. Contents of the invention [0004] Various aspects of the invention are defined in the appended claims. In a first aspect, a controller for a tactile feedback elemen...
