The invention discloses a method and an apparatus for detecting a text in a natural scene image, and aims to solve the problem of relatively low precision of detecting texts in natural scene images ofdifferent complex degrees in the prior art. The method comprises the steps of obtaining the natural scene image; through an FCN model, performing convolution operation on the obtained natural scene image to obtain convolution features of the natural scene image; according to the convolution features of the natural scene image, determining a text candidate region sequence comprised in the naturalscene image; and for each text candidate region in the text candidate region sequence, executing operations of extracting a convolution feature of the text candidate region through a region-of-interest pooling layer, converting the convolution feature of the text candidate region into an eigenvector of a fixed dimension k through feature conversion, and according to a time recurrent network modeland the eigenvector of the fixed dimension k, determining the position of a text line comprised in the text candidate region, wherein k is a positive integer.
