Abstract

The method is used for identifying the type of a terminal when the terminal only turns on the WLAN function but is not in connection with the AP. The AP determines a first MAC address and a second MAC address from a corresponding relation table of MAC addresses and terminal type marks, wherein the second MAC address is the minimal MAC address among all the MAC addresses in the corresponding relation table that are greater than the MAC address of the to-be-identified terminal and the first MAC address is the maximal MAC address among all the MAC addresses in the corresponding relation table that are smaller than the MAC address of the to-be-identified terminal; determining the terminal type mark corresponding to the MAC address of the to-be-identified terminal according to a first terminal type mark corresponding to the first MAC address in thecorresponding relation table and a second terminal type mark corresponding to the second MAC address in the corresponding relation table.
