The method comprises: establishing a page configuration table of web pages which needs monitoring; every time when monitoring period reaches, automatically triggering webpage state monitoring on corresponding web pages according to corresponding monitoring modes, respectively a link monitoring mode and ascreen capture similarity monitoring mode; counting links whose status codes are abnormal and / or binary web page screen captures whose similarity is abnormal, to obtain a monitoring result of monitored web pages. The method is advantaged in that through capturing link elements in web pages, and further requesting the link, whether the link loses efficacy is determined through a returned http status code. Through screen capture of the web pages, and comparing with a page screenshot under a normal condition most recently, whether abnormal conditions of disordered styles and empty content occur to the web pages can be rapidly determined. Therefore, the method and the system are advantaged in that webpage state monitoring efficiency of web pages is high.
