Embodiments of the invention provide a data transmission method and device. The method comprises the following steps of querying multiple pieces of availability information of a plurality of upstreamnodes when a downstream node receives a data stream; selecting a target node from the upstream nodes according to the multiple pieces of availability information; and transmitting the data flow to a target node. By actively scanning the availability of the upstream nodes, a faulted node and a link with poor transmission quality can be proposed during transmission, and a better node and a better link are selected, so that the success rate of transmission is improved, and the number of times of retransmission caused by transmission failure is reduced, and thus the resource consumption of the downstream node is reduced, the transmission time is shortened, and the transmission efficiency is improved.
