A reduced height relay block (132) for use within a power distribution unit (110) for a vehicle electrical system. In one embodiment, a power distribution device for routing or distributing power throughout a vehicle electrical system is provided and includes a lower housing (112), a relay block assembly (114), a printed circuit board (PCB ), a module (116), an array of serviceable electrical components (118), and an upper cover (120). The relay block assembly includes a relay block (132) having a generally planar upper side (140) and including a plurality of cavities for receiving said serviceable electrical components (160, 162, 164).
