A power distribution system/method implementing Internet based access to hybrid home automation networks is disclosed. The system utilizes a smart gateway power controller (SGPC) configured for single/multi-gang wallplate installation to selectively switch an AC power source to a load device under switched control and/or local/remote network commands that may be routed through a variety of network interfaces and protocols present within a home or other structure-local communications network. SGPC configurations may be nested within a home automation network to permit separation of control for load devices within a common home automation environment. Present invention methods may include routing protocols between disparate home automation networks as well as remote access protocols that permit control of disparate home automation networks via the Internet using a wide variety of remote access interfaces including mobile devices, tablet computers, laptops, desktop computers, and the like.

Provided is a wearable, self-contained drug infusion or medical device capable of communicating with a host controller or other external devices via a personal area network (PAN). The medical device utilizes a PAN transceiver for communication with other devices in contact with a user's body, such as a physiological sensor or host controller, by propagating a current across the user's body via capacitive coupling. The wearable nature of the medical device and the low power requirements of the PAN communication system enable the medical device to utilize alternative energy harvesting techniques for powering the device. The medical device preferably utilizes thermal, kinetic and other energy harvesting techniques for capturing energy from the user and the environment during normal use of the medical device. A system power distribution unit is provided for managing the harvested energy and selectively supplying power to the medical device during system operation.

A method and apparatus for distributing power to a plurality of computers in a network. A power management system including a feed-back mechanism, is employed to monitor power consumptions of the plurality of computers. Should the overall power consumption reach a threshold, the power management system instructs the microprocessors in the plurality of computers to enter into a lower power state, such as a sleep state, for a certain duration, thus lowering overall power.

A system to monitor power loading in a plurality of power distribution units. The system includes a power monitoring gateway with a port configured to communicate with an internet protocol network using an internet protocol address. In one aspect, the invention provides a system for power distribution. According to some embodiments, the system includes a rack mountable power distribution unit including a housing having a first end and a second end, the housing also including an outer wall defining a cavity within the housing, and fastening elements configured to allow the housing to be mounted within an electrical equipment rack. In accordance with these embodiments, the outer wall of the housing includes an opening extending linearly between the first end and the second end of the housing and a plurality of electrical conductors located within the cavity and oriented linearly between the first end and the second end. In accordance with further embodiments, the system includes a tap module including a plurality of contacts extending therefrom wherein each of the plurality of contacts is configured to be inserted into the opening before engaging one of the plurality of electrical conductors within the cavity, respectively.

A distribution unit has a power circuit section including a plurality of bus bars with electronic parts mounted on at least some of the bus bars. Ends of specific bus bars are projected from a main body section of the power circuit section in a adjacent manner to form fuse connection terminals. Each of the fuse connection terminals has a tip placement part to place a fuse terminal. An insulating case made of an insulating material for covering the power circuit section is opened in the projection direction of the fuse connection terminals to enable the fuse terminal to be placed in the tip placement part of the fuse connection terminal from the outside of the insulating case. The insulating case has a short-circuit prevention section intervening between the fuse connection terminals for preventing a short circuit between the fuse connection terminals.

A method of optimizing power loads of a power strip is disclosed. The power strip is of the type having single or three phase power input, a plurality of circuit breakers, and a plurality of outlets. The arrangement is such that at least one circuit breaker is associated with at least one outlet. The method includes: obtaining real-time current measurements for each phase of the single or three phase power input of the power strip; obtaining real-time current measurements for each circuit breaker of the plurality of circuit breakers of the power strip; logging the real-time current measurements for each phase of the single or three phase power input and for each circuit breaker of the plurality of circuit breakers; and analyzing the real-time current measurements of the single or three phase power input and the plurality of circuit breakers to determine a preferential order of outlets in which to apply a new load.

An electrical apparatus has an elongated housing with fuses located therein. Windows are provided in the housing to close apertures in registration with fuse locations to allow access to fuses by removing the window. Fuses may be carried on a circuit card removably engageable with a terminal block secured to a wall within the housing. A fuse compartment cover is removably secured to the housing. The window comprises a fuse condition indicator to allow determination of the condition of the fuse (i.e. blown or not blown) without having to open the window. Additionally, powered indicators such as LEDs visible through the windows may indicate the state of fuses. The housing may comprise a power distribution unit and may be rack mounted or mounted to a wall of a rack assembly. The windows are located on the housing to be removable free of engagement with the assembly. In various embodiments, the windows may be included in a different one of the walls so that the windows will be unobstructed when the housing is in one of a number of orientations. The fuse compartment may be opened without removing the unit from the rack.

An immersion cooling tank comprises: a dielectric liquid disposed within a lower volume of the tank; at least one electronic equipment immersed within the dielectric liquid and which requires electrical power to operate; and at least one power distribution unit and/or a bus bar distribution system submerged beneath a surface of the dielectric liquid and providing electrical power to the at least one electronic equipment. The immersion cooling tank further includes a condenser located vertically above the dielectric fluid and the at least one electronic equipment, and through which is flowing a condensation fluid that has a lower density than the dielectric liquid. A leak of the condensation fluid into the tank volume results in the condensation fluid floating atop the dielectric liquid and prevents the condensation liquid from coming into contact with the power distribution unit. The bus bar distribution system enables blind mating of inserted electronic components.

A fault analysis method includes: using a matrix of two sets of microgrid power distribution networks to analyze and solve a fault current, and for various types of faults of the distributed power distribution system, obtaining appropriate boundary conditions to calculate a variety of different types of single or simultaneous fault currents of load points. An apparatus and system are disclosed for protecting a power distribution unit from an electrical fault. A fuse interrupts a flow of electrical current in response to the electrical current rising above a current rating of the fuse. A current sensor measures the amplitude of the electrical current and outputs a current amplitude signal. A relay interrupts the flow of electrical current in response to an OFF signal. A fault module receives the current amplitude signal and sends the OFF signal to the relay in response to the amplitude of the electrical current exceeding a threshold value. The relay, the fuse, and the threshold value are selected so that a switching time of the relay is less than an opening time of the fuse for an amplitude of the electrical current between the threshold value and a maximum fault current value, so that the relay prevents the fuse from opening.

A distribution network automation system comprises a power distribution main station, power distribution substations and power distribution terminals. The power distribution main station is responsible for monitoring and managing global information and used for monitoring and acquiring data of a whole distribution network to complete fault handling within the whole network; the power distribution substations are used for managing distribution station terminal monitoring equipment such as switchgear cubicles for loop networks, switching stations for distribution networks and the like, acquiring, gathering and uploading signals of the power distribution terminals to the power distribution main station, and transmitting orders of the power distribution main station to the power distribution terminals; the power distribution terminals mainly used for acquiring data of primary equipment, controlling switchgears, detecting and recognizing faults and sending fault information to the power distribution substations and the power distribution main station. The distribution network automation system has the advantages that power supply reliability can be greatly improved, fault time can be greatly shortened, voltage quality can be greatly improved to provide optimal voltage for users, and labor intensity can be relieved for operators; management level of the whole power distribution system can be improved, working efficiency is improved, and user service level is improved.
