Embodiment Construction

[0022] Disclosed surgical systems and related methods of use are discussed with respect to medical devices for treating musculoskeletal disorders, and more particularly, with respect to surgical systems for delivering implants to surgical sites and methods for treating the spine Exemplary embodiment of . In some embodiments, the systems and methods of the present disclosure employ an oblique surgical approach, which may include an oblique lateral surgical approach. In some embodiments, the systems and methods of the present disclosure are employed with spinal articulation and fusion, eg, with the cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and / or sacral regions of the spine.

[0023] In some embodiments, the surgical system includes an interbody implant configured as a stand-alone device. In some embodiments, interbody implants may be employed with methods for lordosis correction. In some embodiments, the interbody implant is configured for insertion along an oblique path. In some embodime...

Abstract

A spinal implant comprises an implant body extending between an anterior surface and a posterior surface, and including a first vertebral engaging surface and a second vertebral engaging surface. Theimplant body includes an inner surface that defines at least one opening oriented to implant a fastener oblique relative to a lateral axis of a subject body and adjacent an intervertebral space of thesubject body. The implant body defining a cavity such that a surgical instrument is connectable with the implant body adjacent the cavity and movable relative to the implant body. Systems, surgical instruments and methods are disclosed.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates generally to medical devices for treating musculoskeletal disorders, and more particularly, to spinal implant systems and methods for treating the spine. Background technique [0002] Spinal disorders and conditions such as degenerative disc disease, herniated discs, spondylolisthesis, stenosis, osteoporosis, tumors, scoliosis and other curvature abnormalities, kyphosis and fractures can be caused by factors including injury and aging trauma, disease and degenerative conditions. Spinal disorders often result in symptoms including deformation, pain, nerve damage, and partial or total loss of mobility. [0003] Non-surgical treatments such as medication, rehabilitation, and exercise can be effective but may not relieve the symptoms associated with these conditions. Surgical treatments for these spinal conditions include fusion, immobilization, orthosis, discectomy, minidiscectomy, corpectomy, decompression, laminectomy, l...
