A liquid-cooled compressor is equipped with: a compressor main body 11 arranged between an intake flow path 10 and a discharge flow path 12; an intake adjustment valve 20 provided in the intake flow path 10; a return flow path 35 that branches from the discharge flow path 12, and is connected to the intake flow path 10 located between the intake adjustment valve 20 and the compressor main body 11;an opening / closing valve 16 provided in the return flow path 35; an atmosphere release flow path 36 that branches from the return flow path 35 downstream from the opening / closing valve 16; and a constricting unit 17 provided in the atmosphere release flow path 36. The main-body-side intake pressure P1 on the main-body-intake side of the intake flow path 10 when the intake adjustment valve 20 is closed exceeds a lower limit negative pressure PB which prevents explosive noise from the intake adjustment valve 20. Thus, in this liquid-cooled compressor 1 it is possible to reliably prevent pressure in a gas compression space when the intake adjustment valve 20 is closed from reaching an undesirable negative pressure, and it is possible to protect the compressor main body 11.
