The invention relates to a terahertz wave-based device for highly hazardous chemical detection. The device includes a terahertz wave generation unit, a terahertz wave transmitting and receiving unit,and an echo wave analysis unit. The terahertz wave generation unit is used for generating terahertz detection signals, terahertz reference signals and terahertz local oscillation signals. The terahertz wave transmitting and receiving unit is used for transmitting the terahertz detection signals and the terahertz reference signals to a highly hazardous chemical to be detected and receiving terahertz echo wave signals carrying information of the highly hazardous chemical to be detected. The echo wave analysis unit is used for analyzing the terahertz echo wave signals and the terahertz local oscillation signals to obtain information of the highly hazardous chemical to be detected. Through the device, remote on-site detection of the highly hazardous chemical is achieved, thus performing rapid,accurate and safe monitoring and early warning for the highly hazardous chemical.
