Abstract

For communications utilizing polar codes, a Hybrid Automatic Repeat-Request (HARQ) algorithm is provided by selecting either Chase Combining HARQ (HARQ‑CC) or Incremental Redundancy HARQ (HARQ‑IR) depending on the code rate of the first transmission to take advantage of the advantages of HARQ‑CC and HARQ‑IR. In some examples, the HARQ algorithm utilizes HARQ-IR when the code rate in the first transmission is greater than a code rate threshold and utilizes HARQ-CC when the code rate in the first transmission is less than the code rate threshold.

Description

[0001] priority claim [0002] This application claims priority and benefit to PCT Application No. PCT / CN / 2016 / 076744, filed March 18, 2016, entitled "Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) with Polar Coded Transmissions", the entire contents of which are incorporated by reference incorporated herein as if fully set forth below in its entirety and for all applicable purposes. technical field [0003] The techniques discussed below relate generally to wireless communication systems and, more particularly, to hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) utilizing polar codes in wireless communication systems. Background technique [0004] Block codes or error correcting codes are often used to provide reliable transmission of digital messages over noisy channels. In a typical block code, an information message or sequence is divided into blocks, and then an encoder at the sending device mathematically adds redundancy to the information message. Utilizing this redundancy in encoded...
