Abstract

Systems and methods for controlling a vehicle are provided. In one embodiment, a method of selecting a driving mode for a vehicle includes: receiving occupant preference information indicating whether the occupant prefers to operate the vehicle in a driving mode (e.g., sport mode); receiving a set of vehicle state parameters, the a vehicle state parameter indicating whether an operating state of the vehicle is conducive to the driving mode; and receiving a set of occupant state parameters indicative of a state of one or more occupants of the vehicle. The method further includes selecting a drive mode based on the occupant preference information, the set of vehicle state parameters, and the occupant state parameter, and then engaging a vehicle tuning parameter for the vehicle based on the selected drive mode.
