Problems solved by technology
According to the teaching of WO2014 / 198731, these materials cannot be recycled together, and separation is necessary, thus making the recycling process relatively complicated
[0011] In short, although the art describes various methods of producing carpet that can be recycled, it appears that such recycling of carpet or carpet products is not straightforward

Abstract
The present invention pertains to a method for recycling a carpet product, the carpet product comprising a fibrous sheet comprising polymer yarns, wherein at least one surface of the sheet is providedwith a layer of polymer adhesive, wherein the carpet product is a substantially pure polyester carpet product, wherein the polymer yarns comprise polyester having a molecular weight above 50,000 g / mol and a melting point between 180 and 300 DEG C, the adhesive is a polyester adhesive having a crystallinity between 5% and 35% and a viscosity of 5-55 Pa.s at 150 DEG C, the method comprising homogenizing the carpet product by extrusion. The invention also pertains to recycled polymer obtainable by this method, to fibres comprising this recycled polymer material, to fibrous products comprising these fibres and to polyester adhesive.
Description
technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to a method of recycling a carpet product comprising a fibrous sheet comprising polymeric yarns, wherein at least one surface of the sheet is provided with a layer of polymeric binder. The invention also relates to recycled polymers obtainable by this method, fibers comprising such recycled polymeric materials, fiber products comprising these fibers and polyester binders. Background technique [0002] Carpets (such as broadloom carpets, carpet tiles, rugs, area rugs, stair rugs, etc.) are commonly used to cover floors, walls, interiors of automobiles, airplanes, boats, etc. to provide a comfortable feel and a pleasing appearance. Carpets generally comprise a fibrous sheet having polymeric yarns as an essential component. For example, most carpets are produced by stitching polymeric yarns to a primary backing to provide polymeric yarn piles protruding from the top surface of the backing. The backing typically ha...
