Abstract

An apparatus for monitoring patient compliance with a prescribed regimen is provided. The device has a pulmonary delivery set, an adapter in fluid communication with the delivery set, and a dispenser in fluid communication with the adapter. Pressurized medication contained in the pulmonary delivery set can be delivered from the pulmonary delivery set to the patient through the adapter and dispenser. A sensor is mounted to the adapter or dispenser for detecting changes in temperature or pressure caused by the movement of drug from the pulmonary delivery device to the patient and generating a feedback signal based on the changes. The feedback signal is further processed for use in generating a signal indicative of successful drug delivery to the patient.
