Embodiment Construction

[0117] The following discussion describes embodiments of means for connecting a pump head to a pump. This arrangement is a typical configuration found at additive pumps or pumping stations. It is possible, however, that these concepts may translate to other types of devices that also require similar features. For that matter, the unit uses a two-piece design. The first piece connects the pump head to the pump. The second piece is inserted into the first piece. The second piece is configured to extend into the pump head, eg, out of the first piece, so as to bring an O-ring (or similar sealing member) into contact with the pump head. Other embodiments are within the scope of this disclosure.

[0118] figure 1 An exemplary embodiment of a sealed connection device 100 is schematically depicted. This embodiment is shown as part of a pump generally identified by the numeral 10 . An example of a pump 10 may have a pump head 12 coupled with a conduit 14 that conveys material 16...

Abstract

A sealed connection device configured to connect a pump head with a pump on an additive pump. The sealed connection device may comprise an adapter and a sealing collar that inserts into the adapter. The sealing collar may comprise a body with a bore forming open ends, a shoulder disposed between the open ends, an annular detent adjacent the shoulder, annular grooves, one being disposed on the shoulder two others found on either side of the shoulder, and o-rings disposed in the annular grooves. The pump may couple with a first side of the adapter, the pump comprising a shaft that inserts in thebore of the sealing collar. The pump head may insert into a second side of the adapter so as to contact one of o-rings on the sealing collar.

Description

Background technique [0001] Additive pumps are widely used in heavy industry. These devices are known to be incorporated into larger injection stations that are coupled to conduits (eg, pipelines, pipelines, etc.), eg, as part of oil and gas production and distribution networks. Injection stations are intended to provide substances (eg, chemicals, lubricants, etc.) into the fluid passing through the catheter. Some of these substances (or "additives") may cause harm to the area surrounding the injection site. Therefore, it was concluded that precautions were necessary to contain the additive to avoid leakage or spillage of the injection station and its parts, including the additive pump. Contents of the invention [0002] The subject matter disclosed herein relates to improvements in additive pumps to address these concerns. Of particular interest are embodiments that prevent additive leakage from around a shaft that nominally reciprocates to accurately disperse fluid from...
