The method includes: after the intelligent terminal is normally booted, obtaining,by the intelligent terminal, a boot video delivered by a cloud server; when the intelligent terminal does not support playing the boot video, sending, by the intelligent terminal, identification information to the cloud server; receiving and playing, by the intelligent terminal, a boot video generated by the cloud server through transcoding of the identification information; if the play is abnormal, stopping playing the boot video, and obtaining a preset boot animation for playing. In the present invention, a boot video that does not support playback is transcoded to a format that supports playback by using a cloud server, so that compatibility of the intelligent terminal with a boot video format is improved, and the boot video can be normally played on the intelligent terminal. For all types of exceptions that may occur during playback of the boot video, a boot video protection mechanism is added to control the played boot video, so that it is ensured that the intelligent terminal can be normally booted.
