Abstract

An electronic device is provided having a control device, a driver circuit coupled to the control device. The driver circuit is configured to vary conductance. A local power supply is coupled to the control device and is configured to provide a voltage potential difference to the control device and the driver circuit due to the local power supply being in contact with the conductive fluid. The local power source includes a first material electrically coupled to the control device, and a second material electrically coupled to the control device and electrically isolated from the first material. An inductor is coupled to the driver circuit. The driver circuit is configured to generate current through the inductor. The magnitude of the current drawn through the inductor is varied to produce an encoded signal remotely detectable by the receiver. A receiver for receiving and decoding is also disclosed.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application 62 / 365,727, filed July 22, 2016, entitled "ELECTROMAGNETIC SENSING ANDDETECTION OF INGESTIBLE EVENT MARKERS," which is disclosed here It is incorporated herein in its entirety and for all purposes. Background technique [0003] The present disclosure generally relates to various devices and techniques for sensing and detecting events. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to ingestible identifiers that employ electromagnetic energy to transmit a signal indicative of a sensed or detected event. [0004] Ingestible event markers comprising electronic circuits have been proposed for use in a wide variety of different medical applications, including both diagnostic and therapeutic applications. The state of the art for detecting ingestible identifiers involves making wet contact with two points on the skin and measuring the voltage difference c...
