The embodiment of the invention provides a video image-based fighting behavior detection method and device, and the method comprises the steps: obtaining the number of first target features in a to-be-detected video image frame, and detecting whether the number of the first target features is greater than a first preset threshold value or not; and if the number of the first target features is greater than the first preset threshold value, obtaining a plurality of adjacent video image frames adjacent to the to-be-detected video image frame, and judging whether a fighting behavior occurs or notaccording to the to-be-detected video image frame and the change condition of the first target feature in the plurality of adjacent video image frames. And if the number of the first target features is smaller than or equal to the first preset threshold value, a second target feature in the to-be-detected video image frame is obtained, and whether a connected part exists in the second target feature in the to-be-detected video image frame is detected so as to judge whether a fighting behavior occurs or not. According to the scheme, whether the fighting behavior occurs or not is comprehensivelyjudged through combination of multiple decisions and feature changes, and the accuracy of fighting behavior detection based on the video image is improved.
