The method comprises the following steps that: when entrance of a fuel cell into a power generation mode is detected, whether the fuel cell is in a steady state is determined; if so, an average voltage value corresponding to each target current sampling point is determined and a target voltage value corresponding to each target current sampling point is obtained; for each target current sampling point, whether differences between the corresponding average voltage value and the target voltage values are greater than a preset first difference value threshold is determined; and when a ratio of the number of the differences being larger than the preset first difference value threshold to the total number of all target current sampling points is greater than a preset first ratio threshold, the fuel cell performance is determined not to meet the requirement. With the provided performance detecting method for a fuel cell,the performance of the fuel cell can be detected without additional testing equipment during the detecting process.
