Embodiment Construction

[0042] One band measurement technique used in the industry is ultrasound. Manual measurements using ultrasound are typically downloaded to a computer and plotted on an ad hoc basis using an in-house developed software solution (eg, spreadsheet) without the need for integrated control or other integration with production and maintenance systems.

[0043] This ultrasonic technology is self-contained and generally not integrated into device controls. They rarely generate alerts in real time. As such, they do nothing to maintain or support analysts' interpretations of the charts and used for expiry-with-replacement decisions.

[0044] Other methods that facilitate coupling of these sensors in a production environment, such as laser coupling, may be sensitive to environmental conditions such as dust accumulation. Therefore, there is a need for a solution that emphasizes another measure in favor of the simplification of the steps and the robustness of the measurement device.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a continuous belt conveyor monitoring system and method. An in-line real-time method of measuring the thickness of a moving belt uses infrared thermal imaging technology to continuously and non-invasively measure the thickness of the rubber-covered area and detect damage. This technology solves technical problems and realizes potential benefits such as increased efficiency when planning maintenance / replacement of conveyor belts; provides rationalization and advanced planning for stockpiling spare conveyor belts; provides prediction of point severe wear to avoid premature wear or belt wear; generates wear history after each belt change, with life prediction and early planning acquisition and decommissioning for replacement; and provides early warning system integration.

Description

technical field [0001] The technology relates to monitoring and measurement, and more particularly to continuous monitoring of belt conveyors by performing in-line thickness measurements of the belt using thermal (infrared) imaging analysis and determining the thickness of the belt coverage area continuously or continuously in real time using thermal imaging measurements non-invasive systems and methods. Background technique [0002] Belt conveyors have been widely adopted by industry due to their safe, reliable operation and adaptability. Example uses include transporting raw materials and / or inputs to a production process. Belt conveyors have many applications, such as mining, metallurgy, manufacturing, and power generation. [0003] Like most mechanical parts, conveyor belts can wear out and eventually break. Excessive wear or breakage of continuously damaged conveyor belts can lead to considerable economic losses. Severely damaged straps can damage structural platfor...
