Abstract

The present invention provides a closure latch assembly for a motor vehicle closure panel that is equipped with a common kinematic chain assembly for a latch release mechanism that utilizes a first handle range of travel to actuate the movement of the latch mechanism The electrical release and also utilizes the second handle range of travel to activate the mechanical release of the latch mechanism. The actuation lever may include a magnet that, when moved out of range of the sensor, sends a signal to initiate power release. Further movement of the actuating rod forces a mechanical release in the absence of an electrical release. In both power and mechanical releases, the pawl rotates from the ratchet hold position to the ratchet release position.
