Abstract

Systems and methods for multi-level closed loop control of haptic effects are disclosed. One illustrative system for multi-level closed loop control of haptic effects includes a haptic output device configured to output a haptic effect, a sensor configured to sense the output of the haptic output device and generate a sensor signal, and a processor in communication with the sensor. The processor is configured to: receive a reference signal, receive the sensor signal, determine an error based at least in part on the reference signal and the sensor signal, generate a haptic signal based at leastin part on the reference signal and the error, and transmit the haptic signal to the haptic output device configured to output a haptic effect based on the haptic signal.

Description

technical field [0001] This application relates to the field of haptic effects. More specifically, the present application relates to multi-level closed-loop control of haptic effects. Background technique [0002] Haptic effects improve ease of use in devices and applications in general, especially mobile devices and virtual and augmented reality devices and applications such as games. This results in an increase in the range of implementation of the haptics. As haptics are implemented in a variety of devices, it can be a challenge to ensure high-quality consistent haptic effects across a range of different devices, or even across different versions of the same device or even different production runs. Systems and methods for multi-level closed-loop control of haptic effects are needed to help ensure the quality and consistency of such haptic effects. Contents of the invention [0003] In one embodiment, a system includes a haptic output device configured to output a h...
