Abstract

A method of improving quality inspection comprising: (i) receiving a first command to acquire a first image of a product surface, (ii) positioning a camera at a first image substantially adjacent the product surface by actuating a plurality of rotatable joints. at a location, and acquiring a first image of the surface of the product. The method also includes, after acquiring the first image: (i) processing the first image to identify a defect in the first image and a relative location of the defect in the first image, and, (ii) based on the first position of the camera and the relative position of the defect in the first image, determine a second position of the camera, and, (iii) reposition the camera from the first position to the second position by actuating the plurality of rotatable joints. The method also includes acquiring a second image.

Description

technical field [0001] The present application generally relates to production lines, including but not limited to visual inspection of products on the production line. Background technique [0002] Manufacturers implement various quality control measures to reduce the number of defective products entering the circulation of goods. Some quality control measures involve visual inspection of products. However, current visual inspection techniques, such as by human workers, always miss defective products, and also lack procedures to account for new product defects, such as those caused by aging production lines. Thus, challenges exist in initially identifying product defects, especially product defects that develop over time. Contents of the invention [0003] Accordingly, a need exists for a method and system for identifying defective products before they enter the circulation of commerce. One solution to this problem is to use a robot (e.g., a robotic arm 402 with a came...
