The method is characterized by comprising the following steps of: measuring and positioninga breakdown point by using a cable fault positioning instrument, respectively measuring linear distances from the breakdown point to two ends of a faulty cable, indicating that the faulty cable can be repaired if the linear distance from the breakdown point to one end of the faulty cable is within 100 meters, and defining the end as a first end; installing the faulty cable on the pay-off rack, pulling the first end head, pulling out the faulty cable, and pulling the faulty cable to a position where the breakdown point is exposed; cutting off the metal outer sheath, and pulling the metal outersheath forwards to expose the breakdown point; replacing the damaged or blackened insulating mica tape to restore the insulating property of the insulating mica tape, and winding the wrapping tape outside the insulating mica tape again; and welding the metal outer sheath together in a butt joint manner to obtain a qualified cable with repaired insulation performance.
