Abstract

The invention provides an image processing device and an image processing method. The image processing device and the image processing method detect the deviation of the installation position or angleof a camera installed in a lift car. According to one embodiment, there is provided an image processing apparatus connected to an image pickup unit mounted in a car provided in an elevator system inorder to detect a situation in the vicinity of a car door provided in the car. The image processing apparatus includes an acquisition unit, an extraction unit, and a detection unit. The acquisition unit acquires a first image captured by the imaging unit at a timing at which an image that does not include a person can be captured. The extraction unit extracts a structure unique to the elevator system from the acquired first image. The detection unit detects a mounting position or an angle shift of the imaging unit based on the extracted position of the structure in the first image.
