The embodiment of the invention discloses a data transmission method and related equipment, which are used for solving a technical problem that transmission efficiency is influenced due to the fact that a sender repeatedly transmits the same data in the data transmission process. The method provided by the embodiment of the invention comprises the steps: the sender obtains to-be-sent data; whethera unique identifier which is the same as the unique identifier of the to-be-sent data exists in the stored unique identifiers or not is determined through a data deduplication module; if so, that thedata sent by the sender before has the same data as the current to-be-sent data is indicated, and that the sender sends the same data and discards the to-be-sent data is indicated; therefore, the sender does not need to repeatedly transmit the same data any more and only performs transmission once, so that network bandwidth is saved, and the data transmission efficiency is improved.
